Cyprus is also a land of controversial nature where the history of two peoples is intertwined. The island is divided in two: the Democratic Republic of Cyprus to the south, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to the north. In the south Greek is spoken and people pay in euros, in the north the language is Turkish and the currency is the Turkish lira.
